Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace Detects and Mitigates Phishing Attempt in Leading Transportation Company

Darktrace, the world leader in AI technology for cyber defense, today announced that H&M International Transportation successfully detected and prevented a sophisticated phishing attempt using its innovative Enterprise Immune System platform for cyber defense.

Darktrace opened our eyes to what was really happening within our network,” commented Eric Witham, VP of Information Technology, H&M International Transportation. “As a leading company in the industry, working closely with US Customs and Border Protection, safeguarding our sensitive data is of the utmost importance. Once we saw how Darktrace’s AI technology was able to identify and alert us to even the subtlest anomalies, it became a crucial component to our security stack.”

Established in 1968, H&M International Transportation has grown into a leader at the forefront of the US intermodal services industry, currently managing over 2 million containers per year. With locations over seven states, it provides services to support supply chain management, including steamship lines, intermodal trucking, warehousing, and distribution. With many remote employees across several locations, the increasing adoption of IoT to improve business processes, and sensitive data to oversee, H&M International selected Darktrace’s immune system technology to defend its network from the inside out.

A few weeks after deploying the Enterprise Immune System, the value of the self-learning platform was proven when a phishing attempt targeting senior management was detected and mitigated within minutes. After the Enterprise Immune System alerted the security team in real time to the emerging threat, H&M International Transportation was able to take immediate remedial action, before any damage was done. Powered by machine learning and AI algorithms, Darktrace deploys in less than an hour and immediately begins learning a ‘pattern of life’ for every device, user, and network. From this evolving sense of ‘self’, the platform is capable of identifying and autonomously responding to anomalies, like subtle phishing attempts, as they emerge.

Phishing attempts are becoming increasingly targeted and sophisticated, making it difficult for traditional tools to detect amidst the noise of a busy and complex network,” commented Rob Sass, Managing Director, North America. “Darktrace’s AI technology is constantly refining its sense of ‘normal’ for the health of an organization, and is thus uniquely positioned to identify these types of threats quickly and effectively. In this new era of silent and stealthy attacks, we are thrilled to be helping H&M International Transportation protect its sensitive intellectual property.”
